Paris is regarded as one of the most romantic cities in the world. Located on the river Seine, the whole city is like walking into a painter’s landscape, with the Eiffel tower as a central focus. Apart from a lover’s paradise, Paris also has several historically significant museums and art galleries, housing some of the most influential artifacts produced throughout history.

1: The Eiffel Tower

Once the tallest structure in the world, the Eiffel Tower can be regarded as one of Paris’s most famous landmarks. It was designed and named after Gustav Eiffel, a very well known designer who was also responsible for the wrought-iron pylon inside the Statue of Liberty New York.

            2: Louvre

The Louvre is like the treasure chest for art enthusiasts and history buffs. The Mona Lisa is currently the most famous painting in the Louvre, and attracts thousands of visitors every day. The Louvre also has extensive collections of ancient Greek, Egyption and Persian artifacts, as well as famous French and Italian paintings.

            3: Notre Dame

The Notre Dame is a Gothic Cathedral which is situated on the eastern side of the Île de la Cité in Paris. Apart from its high religious importance (Notre Dame is the seat of the Archbishop of Paris); the cathedral is presently also a very important and relevant example of fine Gothic architecture.

            4: Avenue des Champs Elysees

After the French Revolution, this street began to get a lot of attention from high society, which made it into the most famous street in Paris today. Avenue des Champs Elysees boasts a collection of different restaurants and high class boutiques to sooth every shopper’s itch.

            5: Arc de Triomphe

Situated on the top of the hill of Chaillot, the Arc de Triomphe is the centre of 12 main avenues which connects you to the rest of Paris. At the bottom of the arch, there is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, whose body has been brought to its resting place in 1920. Since then, an eternal flame has been burning on that spot to commemorate all those lost in World War 1 and 2

            6: Sacre Coeur

The Sacre Coeur is a very important place for the worshippers of Holy Virgin Mary. It is a landmark for Catholic pilgrims and is also affiliated with many other churches in the area. Apart from its religious importance, the Sacre Coeur is a breathtaking monument that draws thousands of tourists each day.

            7: Chateau de Versailles

Originally designed as a government building for the monarch Louis XIV, Versailles is a perfect example of French Baroque style architecture. Not only does it impress visitors with its elaborate interior, but also the gardens of the palace are a great feature which draws enthusiasts from around the world.

            8: Disneyland Resort Paris

The Disneyland Resort in Paris presents unique features that cannot be found in any other Disney Resort in the world. It gives visitors a chance to experience the magic of Disney, with a very French interpretation, which brings back a nostalgic, romanticized feel of Paris and its culture.

            9: Bastille

Formerly a prison in Paris, the Bastille is best known for the part it played in the French Revolution with the ‘storming of the Bastille’. Today its is a very posh area with lots of boutiques and restaurants.

            10: Tuileries

The palace of Tuileries was originally designed by a woman named Catherine de Médici and Named after the kilns or “tuileries”, who occupied the site centuries ago.

The garden of Tuileries are probably more famous however, and provides a beautiful sanctuary of nature in the middle of Paris.
